Liked:* Gin is an emotionally complex person. She blocks off her emotions sometimes to get the job done, but she feels sad about the necessity.* Gin's "family" is great too. She is an assassin but she doesn't work in a vacuum.* The plot was intriguing and well-paced.* The world-building was interesting and I'm looking forward to learning more about the magic system.Liked Less:* There was some repetition that was a bit annoying. It was never just "eyes." It was always "my gray eyes" or "his gold eyes."* The attraction to Donovan Caine was a bit out of the blue for me but not enough to ruin it completely.
