Review

Do not read this book unless you have read the previous books in the series. If you haven't been following the series in order, you will have no idea what is going on.Liked:* I really enjoy the world of the books and it keeps getting richer with every book.* I like the main characters, the D'Artigo sisters. They are complex, well-rounded people. They are also remarkably well-adjusted emotionally, but I think that's because they have each other for support. It's nice to have that kind of family dynamic in a UF/PNR novel. * Realistic depiction of some relationship upheaval between Chase and Delilah. To say more would be spoiling.* The overall plot involving the demon incursions and the fey wars kept right on trucking. There were some major developments that I enjoyed.* Delilah, who is the POV character for this book, is awesome. She can kick ass and also admit when she's being a bitch.Liked Less:* INFODUMPING!!! I almost stopped listening because the very first action scene was constantly interrupted by info dumps and long planning conversations among the involved characters. You're in a dangerous situation in a dangerous place and you have to time to think and talk that much? Really? It really killed the momentum. This still happened later in the book but to a much lesser degree so I didn't feel as much like screaming. If I had been reading instead of listening, I definitely would have skimmed some parts.* I am totally uninterested in Maggie and could do without those parts entirely. I know that this is a matter of personal taste.Recommended for readers of this series. In my opinion, it's one of the weaker books, but it's impossible to skip a book in this series and still understand anything.
